2016 Metropolitan Championships
(Forms & Information .pdf)
The Metropolitan Board of Directors are pleased to announce that we will once again use the "Metros" as an advancer to National tournaments. This tournament will be an advancing tournament for all Open athletes from 8 to 40 years old. There are two changes in the structure and format of the tournament we want to inform you of. The first change is that we will now combine both the Sr and Jr Metros into 1 tournament. The second change is the inclusion of non-citizens and athletes from other LBC's into the tournament. Metro Open athletes that are U.S. citizens will box in one bracket and non-citizens and other LBC athletes in the other. Both bracket champions will box each other for the tournament championship belt.
The two tournaments the Metropolitan Championships will advance Metro Open athletes to are:
The tournament will also offer scholarship opportunities to eligible candidates. An email explaining the scholarship opportunity and eligibility requirements will be sent to all who register for tournament
Athletes, parents and coaches not seeking advancement due to an inability to travel on the above dates or who simply choose not to submit information as required above can also opt to compete only at the local, Metro level. Novice and Open JO & youth categories will be available for all competitors provided we have enough applicants so please spread the word thru out the boxing community that this tournament will be held and is open to all USA Boxing members.
