2017 Metropolitan Jr Olympic & Youth Tournament
General Tournament Information
This tournament is the local advancing tournament to Regional and National Jr. Olympic Championships for Metro open JO’s and Youth. This year, all divisions will box off with NJ to determine who will represent either state at the Regionals. Not all competitors will advance as athletes will be divided into novice and open categories according to their respective age and weight divisions. Boxers with less than 5 bouts will be considered Novice. Boxers with 5 bouts or more can be considered Open. Metro will once again accept Developmental Bouts which we would also like to offer to sub-novices with no bouts so as to acclimate our youngest athletes of any age to ring competition. The rules concerning Developmental Bouts are attached. The election to box open, novice or developmental must be made on the entry form. Bouts won on a walkover are not to be included in establishing any minimum bout requirements for any division.
Tournament participation begins with accurate and complete entry applications to be done this year exclusively online at https://metrojryouth2017.wufoo.com/forms/metropolitan-jr-olympic-youth-2017-tournament/. Please complete each section and click the submit button, scan and email current report card and submit entry fee to complete each tournament entry. Please note that because Metro expects to field the largest team ever sent to regional and national competition an entry fees will be as follows: $15 for developmental, $20 for Novice and $25 for Open athletes. $10 will be deducted for each report card submitted with entry. Applicants will be notified of the receipt of their entry form via email. Be sure to include a valid email address.
Boxers must compete within the weight class in which they entered the tournament. There will be no changes in weight once the tournament begins. Boxers must weigh in day of bouts and will have no weight allowance. Boxers who do not make weight on day of competition will be disqualified from tournament. Last day to change weight class is 2/26/16. There will be no exceptions!
Coaches must be registered and certified with USA Boxing and be able to show proof of registration and certification in order to work the corner of any boxer. Coaches are now required by USA Boxing Metro to obtain Red Coach’s Books. Parents seeking to work the corner of their child’s bout must also meet this requirement. Only two qualified coaches per boxer will be allowed to enter at the weigh-in free of charge. Coaches without a boxer scheduled or boxers not scheduled at each show may be allowed entry to show at the discretion of the host club or at a discount entry fee. Non-qualified boxers and coaches not currently registered or unable to produce credentials will be subject to full price entry at the discretion of host club.
